Public Interest Research Group (Conn PIRG) Constitution
Divisions:
- ConnPIRG is divided into subgroups that work on different
projects.

Hunger and Homelessness
ii.
Campus Climate Challenge
- Each group has its own coordinators who oversee and help make
decisions for that particular group.
Purpose:
- We work towards solving social problems at the local,
state, and national level. We address problems such as hunger and
homelessness, global warming, and democracy issues, among other thing. The
main ways we do this is by educating our community about the solutions to
these issues, doing service trips, and some advocacy.
i.
Hunger and Homelessness: We want to educate students about solutions to
hunger and homelessness, volunteer in the community, and raise funds, food, and
clothing for local agencies in need.
ii.
Camps Climate Challenge: We want to educate students about solutions to
global warning that exist right now. We also want to improve recycling on
campus and look for other easy to fight global warming at the University of
Connecticut-Hartford.
Membership Requirements:
- Membership is open to all and does not require any
commitment; however members who come to meetings regularly will be the
ones to decide what projects we do.
- To join ConnPIRG, you must do one or more of the
following:
i.
come to a meeting
ii.
volunteer at a service trip
iii.
volunteer at an event.
Officers:
- Officers are selected by the subgroup and/or the Campus
Organizer based on interest, commitment to the group, and the desire to
lead.
- Officers can serve for a semester or year term.
- Officers duties include, but are not limited to:
i.
Running the weekly project meeting or arranging for another to run it in
the case that the coordinator cannot be present.
ii.
Assigning event coordinators to each event/service trip held.
iii.
Attending ConnPIRG Core meetings
- Officers are:

Meetings:
- The group meets weekly in the Student Lounge from 12:45 to
1:15
- Later in the semester each individual group will meet
weekly. These meting times will be determined by each subgroup.
Budget:
- Since our projects are subject to change and are sometimes
not determined until later in the semester or year, we are unable to
submit a complete budget at the beginning of the year.
- We will propose any budget additions to the AGS Budget
Committee for approval. Those additions will then be subject to vote by
ASG.
Changes to This Constitution:
- Any member of ConnPIRG can submit changes to this
constitution.
- The proposed changes must be reviewed and approved all of
the following to be adopted:

Campus Climate Challenge Project Coordinator

New Voters Project Coordinator
v.
Campus Organizer
