Workshop
Description
"Learning by
doing" doesn't happen by accident. In order to get the most out of
experiential education, we must facilitate reflective processes that encourage
students to analyze and synthesize experiences, and to make critical
connections to academic concepts and learning goals. Reflection (in
various forms) is a meaningful tool for eliciting this learning.
This workshop will
examine the experiential-learning cycle - including preparation, engagement,
post-experience, and evaluation - and present a number of reflection strategies
that can be used throughout this process. We will workshop participant
ideas as a group, and you will leave with a toolbox of strategies to use in
experiential or service-learning courses.
